We are delighted to announce the highlight of the Council of British Chambers of Commerce in Europe (COBCOE) annual conference event, the Gala Dinner and Chamber of the Year Awards, which will take place in the beautiful setting of the Royal Automobile Club, London, on March 23rd 2010, starting from 7 p.m. This outstanding event is open to all BRCC members and their guests.

Traditionally the Gala Dinner guest speakers have been inspirational business leaders or public figures and given the challenges posed by the current global financial turmoil, this year is no exception. We are pleased to announce the gala dinner guest speaker is Lord Michael Hastings CBE, KPMG’s Global Head of Citizenship and Diversity. He was previously the BBC’s first Head of Corporate Social Responsibility. Michael is a non-executive Director of British Telecom (on the Board for Responsible and Sustainable Business) and a Trustee of the Vodafone Group Foundation. He represents KPMG International on the Global Corporate Citizenship International Committee of the World Economic Forum and the World Business Council on Sustainable Development. In 2009 he became a Member of the World Economic Forum’s Global Council on Diversity and Talent.

As you know, 2009 was our year – the year when the BRCC took away the Chamber of the Year Cup. The evening will end with the traditional COBCOE Chamber of the Year Awards Ceremony, the awards scheme that recognises the incredible talent and unwavering hard work and entrepreneurship of the COBCOE member Chambers and their staff across Europe, and the scheme has been expanded over the years which now boasts five individual excellence awards culminating in the overall big award. It is widely regarded as a fun way to showcase and celebrate the collective efforts and achievements of the member Chambers in the COBCOE network.0

Please also note that there are plenty of opportunities to support the annual event in 2010 with the full recognition that the status of sponsor brings, and if any companies are interested in the event sponsorship packs, please let us know and we would be glad to follow your enquiry up with COBCOE.
