Alderman Nick Anstee took office as the 682nd Lord Mayor of the City of London on Friday 13th November 2009. As Lord Mayor he promotes the Square Mile as the world’s leading international financial and business centre, and his project is sponsoring the spread of financial literacy.
A qualified Chartered Accountant, he joined the global professional services firm Arthur Andersen becoming a Partner in its Corporate Finance practice and was responsible for the development of its private equity activity in the UK. He transferred to Deloitte when Andersen was acquired and is now a Senior Director at the international law firm SJ Berwin.
Specialising in corporate turnaround Nick Anstee has spent the majority of his career advising domestic and global companies on IPO’s, mergers and acquisitions and private equity transactions, in both Europe and North America and was also seconded to the Department of Transport advising on its privatisation programme. He has served on many of the City of London Corporation’s key committees and as Sheriff of the City of London.
