Provident Financial Romania is a non-banking financial institution listed in the General Registry of the National Bank of Romania and is a member of the Financial Companies Association (ALB).
Provident is part of the UK-based International Personal Finance (IPF) group, a modern, fast growing international business serving over 2.2 million customers in six countries overseas. Until July 2007, IPF formed the international home credit arm of Provident Financial plc - the UK's leading provider of home credit which was founded in 1880.
Provident is the only financial institution in Romania that offers home credits, a unique additional service offered for fee, which allows the customers to receive the money in cash within 48 hours. Customers will then be visited by Provident agents on a weekly basis to collect repayments. Provident now serves over 207,000 customers (as of December 2010) through a network of over 3,000 independent agents in over 40 cities.

Provident supports the first non-profit financial education programme addressing large audiences in Romania, Bugetul Familiei (www.bugetulfamiliei.ro). The programme is developed by APC Romania under the aegis of the National Authority for Consumer Protection. Since the beginning of its activity in Romania, Provident has invested over 400,000 Euros in social responsibility programmes.
In 2009, Provident ranked second in a classification of large companies in Romania having the employees with the highest engagement and satisfaction scores, according to a study conducted by Hewitt Associates, an independent human resources consultant.
