Romanian parents organization whose children have cancer

Association P.A.V.E.L. (which means: Getting Help, Life is Bright) is an organization (NGO) of parents whose children suffer from cancer, leukaemia or grave anaemia. It was founded in May 1996 in order to improve the lives of children and young people with cancer, leukaemia or grave anaemia and their families, by providing information, moral, psychological and material support and also to sustain the onco-pediatrics clinics.
Association P.A.V.E.L. is the leader organization in offering various free support and accredited services for children and young people with cancer: legal and psycho-social counselling and support, Cancer Helpline, play and art therapy in hospitals, free accommodation to families during the hospitalization of their ill child, various events during hospitalization and after as: celebrations, trips, camps,..; it’ s organizing humanitarian campaigns for different ill children and young people, it’ s organizing onco - paediatrics conferences and prevention campaigns, it’ s improving conditions in hospitals attracting sponsorships and donations, .. . Sometimes P.A.V.E.L. offered free support to adult cancer patients providing prosthesis or helping them to get some medicines.
Association P.A.V.E.L. is also the leader in advocating for the rights of children and young people with cancer, fighting for better conditions for treatment and life for them. Association P.A.V.E.L. is active in Bucharest where are treated over 65 % of children and young people from Romania, but also is offering support, at request and depending on the organization´s financial possibilities, also to other children from the country.

The contributions and the fight of Association P.A.V.E.L. for the cause of children with cancer are recognized and appreciated at national and international level.
P.A.V.E.L. Association is member of: ICCCPO (International Confederation of Childhood Cancer Parent Organisations), UICC (International Union Against Cancer), ECPC (European Cancer Patient Coalition), EUROCHILD aisbl (active network of organisations and individuals working in and across Europe to improve the quality of life of children and young people), IAPO (International Alliance of Patients´ Organisations), HOPE (Hospital Organisation of Pedagogues in Europe), member associate of SIOPE (an European organisation of nurses and doctors in paediatric oncology) and member of Alianta pentru Sanatate din Romania.

- June 6, 2011, Association P.A.V.E.L. received the Award for „The project of a patients’ organization with the largest impact”.
- December 4, 2008, Asociatia P.A.V.E.L received the Award for the most involved association of patients during Gala SãnãtateaTV
- September 24, 2007, the P.A.V.E.L. website received the second prize during "2007 Cancer on the Internet Award and Mention of Honour", organised by the European School of Oncology and Novartis, the Pharmaceutical Company. The prize award took place during the conference "ESO Cancer on the Internet Observatory" in Barcelona, Spain.
