We are delighted to announce our newly elected Deputy Chairman based in Romania, Raymond Breden. Ray is well known to most of the business community in Romania and is Director of Taxation Services with KPMG Romania SRL. Ray lives in Bucharest and is a tax expert working almost exclusively with foreign investors. Ray has considerable experience in assisting them in establishing their businesses in Romania. He worked with the Inland Revenue for 18 years, after which he moved into consultancy for 6 years, he then joined a multinational pharmaceutical company, initially as UK Director of Taxes, and subsequently was promoted to Corporate Tax Adviser with responsibility for Europe and Central and Eastern Europe. Joining KPMG Romania in early 2002, Ray is currently Director of Taxation Services in their Bucharest office and heads up training for the Central and Eastern Europe network of KPMG. Ray’s special interest, other than his family, is being a drummer in a rock band and we have had the privilege of being entertained by his band at our social events in Bucharest.
Through KPMG Romania, Ray has been an active member of the BRCC, has been involved in the development of the Romania end of our operations and is an invaluably supportive, committed and dedicated member of the Board of Directors of the Chamber.
We would also like to welcome two new members to the Board of Directors both based in Romania and will bring a wealth of professional and business experience to the Chamber
Lucian Danilescu is a Partner of Zamfirescu Racoţi Predoiu Law Partnership since 2007. He has been Associate with Racoţi Predoiu since 1999. Lucian has a wide-ranging transactional practice, specializing in mergers and acquisitions and commercial corporate. His work has implied dealing with a large number of corporate clients active in various sectors of industries and business fields. He has worked extensively in major transactions for both private equity and corporate clients, being an expert lawyer for large-scale mergers and acquisitions and other cross-border operations. Also, Lucian has been involved in the implementation of sophisticated corporate structures, restructuring and corporate governance, as well as joint ventures and partnerships, and also participating in important privatization projects pertaining to companies acting in key sectors, including energy, naval industry, oil and gas.
His wealth of business experience, valuable input in a wide range of legal matters, coordination and management skills, efficiency, initiative, innovation, real talent in identifying opportunities and finding solutions to every raised problem and question, are unquestionably the qualities that qualify him as a member of the BRCC Board of Directors.
Patrick Desbiens joined GlaxoSmithKline in Romania in February 2009 as General Manager. He is responsible for leading all pharmaceutical activities for GlaxoSmithKline in Romania. He has direct people accountability of a team of more than 700 employees, annual revenues in excess of 200M Euros, including scope of activities ranging from clinical research, sales, marketing and distribution.
GlaxoSmithKline is one of the leading bio-pharmaceutical companies in Romania, and around the world. GSK Romania is the owner of Europharm distribution, which is one of top 10 pharmaceutical distributors in the country. GSK also has an important pharmaceutical production facility in Brasov, which makes GSK one of the largest pharmaceutical manufacturers and exporters in Romania. GSK are a Founder member (one of the original founders) of the BRCC.
