On 24 October 2008, the Embassy of Romania is hosting, in 1 Belgrave Square SW1X 8PH, between 15:30- 21:30hrs, the Conference of Romanian students in the UK. The event is promoted on the website www.romanianstudents.co.uk  

The objectives of the Conference are to facilitate connections between Romanian students from different universities in the UK, to discuss a variety of topics of their interest, as well as to inform them of the career opportunities in Romania, in the governmental, nongovernmental and business sectors.
The conference is organized by a committee made of students, researchers and teachers from universities in Cambridge, Canterbury, Edinburgh, Kent, London, Oxford and Sheffield, as well as representatives of the Romanian Cultural Institute London and of the three patrons: The Embassy of Romania in Great Britain, The Raţiu Foundation and The British Romanian Chamber of Commerce.
The Conference will start with presentations made by the following key note speakers: Lord Watson of Richmond, Member of the House of Lords, International Chairman Emeritus of the English Speaking Union and Chairman of the Cambridge Foundation, representing the academic sector; Mr Razvan Orasanu, State Counsellor at the Prime Minister’s Chancellery, representing the governmental sector; Mr Raymond Breden, Director, KPMG Romania SRL, representing the business sector; Princess Marina Sturdza, Chairman of Summits International Ltd, and Mr Nicolae Ratiu, Chairman of the Ratiu Foundation, representing the nongovernmental sector.
Debates will continue in four workshops on different themes: Students’ associations and networking, Research and teaching process, Careers in Romania and Promoting Romania’s image in the UK.
The event will conclude with a reception offered by the Ambassador of Romania in the UK.

Conferinţa Studenţilor Români din Marea Britanie, Londra, 24 octombrie 2008
La 24 octombrie 2008, Ambasada României la Londra va găzdui, la sediul din 1 Belgrave Square SW1X 8PH, între orele 15:30 – 21:30, Conferinţa studenţilor români din Marea Britanie. Evenimentul este promovat pe website-ul www.romanianstudents.co.uk  

Obiectivele Conferinţei sunt crearea de legături între studenţii români din Marea Britanie, dezbaterea unor teme de interes propuse de aceştia şi prezentarea oportunităţilor de carieră din România, în sectorul guvernamental, nonguvernamental şi în mediile de afaceri.

Pentru pregătirea Conferinţei a fost constituit un comitet de organizare din care fac parte studenţi, cercetători şi profesori români de la universităţile din Cambridge, Canterbury, Edinburgh, Kent, London, Oxford şi Sheffield, precum şi reprezentanţi ai Institutului Cultural Român Londra şi ai celor trei instituţii care patronează evenimentul: Ambasada României în Marea Britanie, Fundaţia Raţiu şi Camera de Comerţ Britanică Română.

Conferinţa va debuta cu o sesiune de prezentări susţinute de Lordul Watson of Richmond, membru al Camerei Lorzilor, preşedinte de onoare al English Speaking Union şi preşedinte al Fundaţiei Cambridge, reprezentant al sectorului academic britanic, domnul Răzvan Orăşanu, consilier de stat în cadrul Cancelariei Primului Ministru, reprezentant al sectorului guvernamental din România, domnul Raymond Breden, director, KPMG Romania SRL, reprezentant al mediilor de afaceri, Prinţesa Marina Sturdza, preşedinte al Summits International Ltd, şi domnul Nicolae Raţiu, preşedintele Fundaţiei Raţiu, reprezentanţi ai sectorului nonguvernamental.

Dezbaterile vor continua în cadrul unor grupuri de lucru care vor aborda următoarele teme: Asociaţii studenţeşti şi relaţionare, Procesul de cercetare şi predare, Întoarcerea în ţară: domenii şi cariere şi Promovarea imaginii României în Marea Britanie.

Evenimentul se va încheia cu o recepţie oferită participanţilor de către ambasadorul României în Marea Britanie.
