25/03/2009 - BRCC Wins Chamber Of The Year Award 2009
Tuesday 24th March 2009, London, UK

On 24th March 2009, the British Romanian Chamber of Commerce has been granted the prestigious Chamber of the Year 2009 Award by the Council of British Chambers of Commerce in Europe (COBCOE). The announcement was made at the COBCOE annual conference Gala Dinner which took place at the Royal Automobile Club in London. The BRCC were presented with the award by the guest of honour, Sir Andrew Cahn, Chief Executive of UK Trade & Investment (UKTI), the UK Government organisation responsible for marketing the UK overseas, promoting British exports and attracting inward investment.
Anne-Marie Martin said: “the entry for Chamber of the Year is an important event for all 31 British bilateral member Chambers of COBCOE and one that we all take very seriously, as it recognises the extraordinary cumulative work carried by British bilateral Chambers across Europe, and we are proud and active members of this family. “
According to the 3 independent judges drawn from the inward business tourism agency for London, Visit London; UK Trade & Investment and private enterprise, the BRCC stood out from the other excellent candidates because it scored consistently high in all categories – Membership Development, Events, Sponsorship Achievement and Corporate Social Responsibility - and above all because of its specific focus on the organisation’s development, ideas, plans and implementation, clearly defined organisational goals which have consistently involved its members. The Chamber’s collaborative and inclusive approaches have been the key reasons for their success.
Brian Davies, Chairman of the BRCC and Anne-Marie Martin, the Chamber’s Chief Executive were accompanied at the Gala Dinner by 1st Secretary for Trade, Robert Eros from the Romanian Embassy in London and Cristina Irimie, the Editor in Chief of Ziarul Roman in UK, an Associate member of the Chamber.
Anne-Marie Martin said, “I am so very proud of our achievements and of my team and their constant dedication and hard work and I want to thank them from the bottom of my heart for their devotion. This accolade is for all of us; as I have said time and time again, without the faith, commitment and constant support of all our members, we would not have been able to realise the vision of the BRCC, a vision that was conceived by a dedicated group of founders, taken forward and developed through the sometimes challenging teenage years by a highly experienced and professional team and which has now clearly reached a level of maturity which we can all be very proud to be a part of.”
The Chamber looks forward to celebrating this achievement with its members at the next BRCC Members’ informal gathering on 28th April 2009 in Bucharest.
